The Battle of the Pelennor Fields was a battle for the city of Minas Tirith and ultimately Gondor, immediately following a large-scale siege of Minas Tirith by Sauron's army. It was the greatest battle of the Great War of the Ring and indeed the largest of the entire Third Age. Major casualties resulted, including King Théoden and the Witch-king of Angmar. The building locations (aside from the citadel) and functions are probably just made up. As for the general shape there's lots of canon descriptions. I don't think there's a canon map for Minas Tirith though, so you can't ever say it's 100% accurate. The general shape of the walls and citadel is accurate to Tolkien's descriptions.

It was called the Pelennor Fields and surrounding it was the Rammas Echor, a long wall built during the time of the Ruling Steward, Denethor, near the end of the Third Age.
